It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Josephine Samms, a cherished and longstanding member of the Midwood Older Adult Center. Josephine lived a remarkable 107 years, touching the lives of many with her warmth, wisdom, and vibrant spirit. Her presence was a source of inspiration and joy to all who knew her, and her memory will be fondly remembered by the center she loved so dearly. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with her family and all those who had the privilege of knowing her. We love you!
Below, our Executive Director, Paul Curiale, shares a special message:
Our Dearest Ms Josephine,
Her beauty brightened everyone’s heart each time she smiled, radiating the warmth of God's love and the love of family and friends. Everyone cherished her presence, whether in person or on Zoom. During the COVID crisis, we packed up the organization's van and traveled to her home to celebrate her 106th birthday. We held a live Zoom party for her friends at Midwood OAC, complete with choir singing, gifts, and the shared desire to see her both on Zoom and in person—all amid a snow storm. We will see you again, our dear angel, Ms. Josephine. As you are welcomed home to your great reward above, you will be deeply missed by all.
With love, your friend.
Paul Curiale, ED
