Millennium Development OST program at PS 255 provides a safe and social learning environment where students are exposed to several hands-on and recreation activities that will allow students to become engaging individuals. Millennium Development also provides students with homework assistance from our trained and professional staff.
One of the many activities that are offered is Ballroom dancing, which includes dances from around the world, such as the Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango salsa, Cha Cha Cha. Ballroom dancing provides our students the ability to improve their fitness and flexibility, as well as relieve stress.
Fencing is a fun and exciting sport that makes for great exercise that improves posture, flexibility, discipline and sportsmanship. Students are provided with fencing equipment that protects them from the foil.
Students are able to engage in Chess which increases student’s perception and ability to concentrate. Students are learned basic strategies, as well as advanced tactics. Students are then able to participate in chess tournaments.
Arts and Craft, is a fun hands-on activity where students are able to create projects using fabric, glue, glitter, paint, food and other recyclable materials. Students focus on holiday and theme activities. For instance, students have created ginger bread house out of gramcrackers, foil, cut out card boards, glitter, etc.
Yoga for kids not only relieves stress, but also improves body awareness, self-control, flexibility and coordination. Students are provided with yoga mats as well a relaxation music where they are taught varies stretching and breathing exercises.
Recreation, consist of various sports such as kickball, tennis, basketball and soccer. Team sports, allows students to work together and help one another. It allows students to be healthy and active. |
